S.T.E.M. – Science. Technology. Engineering. Mathematics.
This is a dynamic time for the sciences at Paramus High School. We provide an extremely student-centered, hands-on, and inquiry-based program. Focusing on the real-world phenomena that students encounter, PHS students begin their science studies with an algebra-based physics class followed by chemistry and biology. Students may select from a wide variety of career-related science electives throughout the academic career.
Technology and Engineering
This growing program encourages budding engineers to use their imagination, judgment, and reasoning skills while applying science, mathematics, and state-of-the-art technology to solve practical, real-world problems. Our dynamic team of teaching specialists in the S.T.E.M. disciplines in an up-to-date technology setting challenges our students to design and produce a variety of products and outcomes.
Mathematics/Computer Science
With the realignment and expansion of the engineering and technology offerings in the S.T.E.M. disciplines, students receive instruction in mathematics that is immediately and consistently applicable to their studies in science and technology. Preparing students for a future endeavor that has a basis in mathematics, students learn to work collaboratively with their peers, to reason effectively, to use current technologies to solve a plethora of problems, and make real world and interdisciplinary connections.
